A fabulous antique Edwardian Suffragette pendant necklace adorned with a large flower pendant decorated with violet almandine garnets, white seed pearls and two green peridots, the largest of which is a beautiful pear-cut stone dangling from a dropper at the bottom (approx. 2ct). 

Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”   

The pendant is fashioned in 18ct gold and has an ornate, open-work design, with pierced decoration around the sides. It’s a gorgeous Suffragette pendant, dating to the early 1900s and is accompanied by a silky 15ct gold palma chain to display it on.
